Renewal Work Permits and/or Work Permit Extensions
Employers have to be immigration law compliant before Work Permit Authorization is given to the employer.
Employers have to be compliant during the employment of the Foreign Worker on the work permit.
You may need a Temporary Resident Visa or eTa to enter Canada
You must have documentation to support desired status in Canada to present at Port of Entry.
Students working on campus and some off campus students do not require any work permit. They may need a Temporary Resident Visa or eTA to enter Canada
Not Eligible Candidates:
- Work permit exempt categories
- Expired status in Canada
- Work Permit valid for more than 4 months or new LMIA can be used for new work permit.
Eligible Spouses for Open Work Permits:
- Bridging Work Permit longer than 6 months
- NOC OAB for FSW candidates
PNP programs – employment location restricted to province and city.
Renewal Of Work Permit:
You must apply within 30 days before work permit expires.
You must stop working if:
- Your permit expired before renewal application was made; or
- You did not respect conditions of your permit.
