Headline: When your case goes before the Board, preparation decides the outcome.

Text: A hearing notice, a refused sponsorship or a removal order can feel like a door closing. It is not. The Immigration and Refugee Board (IRB) exists to hear your side, and a well-built case, presented the way the Board expects it, changes results. We prepare it, present it, and stay with you through every step.

Deadlines come first

Appeal and filing deadlines at the IRB are short and strict, and a missed deadline can end your right to be heard. Some run from the date you received a decision, others from the date it was made.

  • If you have received a refusal, a removal order or a notice to appear, contact us today.
  • We start with a free 5-minute urgent case review to confirm which deadline applies to you.

The four Board divisions we appear before

Refugee Protection Division (RPD)

  • Hears refugee and protected person claims.
  • We prepare your Basis of Claim narrative, evidence, country condition materials and testimony preparation, and represent you at the hearing.

Refugee Appeal Division (RAD)

  • Reviews negative RPD decisions on the record, and sometimes on new evidence.
  • We identify the errors in the decision, draft the written submissions, and keep to the tight filing timelines.

Immigration Division (ID)

  • Conducts admissibility hearings and detention reviews.
  • We prepare release proposals, bondspersons and alternatives to detention, and argue for release at every review.

Immigration Appeal Division (IAD)

  • Hears appeals of sponsorship refusals, removal orders against permanent residents and certain other persons, and residency obligation decisions.
  • We build the legal and humanitarian case and prepare you and your witnesses to testify.

Situations we handle

  • A refugee or protection claim before the RPD, or a refused claim you want to appeal to the RAD
  • A refused spousal, partner or family sponsorship, including allegations the relationship is not genuine
  • A removal order made against a permanent resident or a foreign national
  • A refusal after a finding that you did not meet your residency obligation as a permanent resident
  • Detention and release, including repeat detention reviews
  • Admissibility hearings after allegations of criminality, misrepresentation or non-compliance
  • Cases involving a family member, an employee, or an officer of a company

Who this is for

  • Individuals and families facing a hearing, an appeal or detention of themselves or someone they love.
  • Corporations and employers whose officers, transferees or workers are in proceedings, or who need a single, reliable point of contact while the case is before the Board.

Where our work makes the difference

  • Building the argument. We find the strongest ground for your case, in law and in your facts, and present it with a fresh perspective that matches what the Board looks for.
  • Working in the grey areas. Many cases do not fit neatly in the rules. We know how to present them clearly and credibly.
  • Writing and speaking. Clear submissions in writing, and calm, well-prepared advocacy at the hearing.
  • Preparing you. You will know what to expect, how to testify, and what the Board will ask, before the day.

How we work: the KayCee Method

  • Determine: We confirm your decision, your deadline, your grounds and the exact Board division. Nothing is filed until we know where you stand.
  • Defend: We build your evidence, written submissions and hearing strategy, and prepare you and your witnesses.
  • Deliver: We file on time, appear with you at the hearing, and keep you informed until the decision is made.

What you can expect from us

  • A response to every query within 24 hours
  • Your case status available on the website at any time
  • An emergency hotline, open at all times
  • Retainer funds held in trust and released only once billed
  • Fees that follow our Refund Policy (link the page; do not restate the figures here)

Scope of our service

We are licensed immigration consultants and represent clients before the IRB. If your case needs Federal Court work, such as a judicial review or a stay motion, we refer you to a trusted lawyer in our network and stay involved through the handoff.

FAQ

  1. What is the IRB? It is an independent tribunal that decides refugee claims, appeals, admissibility hearings and detention reviews.
  2. How long do I have to appeal? The time limit depends on the type of decision, and some are as short as a few days. Contact us immediately with your decision letter.
  3. Do I need a representative? You may represent yourself, but the process is technical and a poorly prepared case is hard to repair later.
  4. Will I have to testify? In most hearings, yes. We prepare you for the questions in advance.
  5. Can I stay in Canada during the appeal? It depends on the type of case and the order made. We confirm this at the start.
  6. Can you guarantee the outcome? No one can. We guarantee preparation, honesty and full effort.
  7. Can a company use your service for an employee? Yes. We act for individuals and corporations.
